Your responsibility

The Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1265 “Re-Figuration of Spaces”, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) at Technische Universität Berlin since 2018, investigates the transformation of socio-spatial orders observable since the late 1960s. The advertised position is located in subproject A02 “Children’s Spatial Knowledge: Hybrid Spatial Practices of Young People in Politics and Planning”. This project examines how children’s spatial knowledge is shaped by their use of digital media and explores policies and planning practices that deliberately seek to influence these hybrid practices. The research contexts are China and Germany. The project conducts research in dialogical and visual formats with children. In addition, mapping workshops with practitioners in the field of child-friendly urban development are carried out in China and Germany, and comprehensive literature analyses are prepared.

  • Preparation and follow-up of participatory and empirical research (30%)
  • Support in the analysis and evaluation of empirical material (30%)
  • Graphical preparation of results (15%)
  • Literature research (15%)
  • Editorial processing of scientific texts from SFB 1265 (10%)

Your profile

Mandatory criteria:

  • Basic knowledge in the field of urban and regional planning, urban design, architecture or landscape architecture
  • Good knowledge of academic work practices
  • Good skills in literature research and analysis
  • -Good written and spoken German and English skills

Optional criteria:

  • Experience in collecting and analyzing qualitative empirical data
  • Basic knowledge of data management and processing
  • Basic knowledge of MAXQDA and Zotero
  • Basic knowledge of qualitative and visual methods of spatial research
  • Basic knowledge of visualization techniques, methods, and software
  • Experience in intercultural and participatory contexts
  • Good written and spoken Mandarin skills
  • Teamwork skills, initiative, reliability and organizational skills
