interface – Tech analysis and policy ideas for Europe e.V.

interface (formerly Stiftung Neue Verantwortung) is a European think tank specialising in information technology and public policy. Our goal is to ensure that political decision-makers and the public have the expertise and ideas necessary to create policies and make decisions that put the public interest first.

interface is looking for a student assistant in the programme "Digital Rights, Surveillance and Democracy" (m/f/d)

interface is a European think tank that specialises in digital technologies, politics, and society. Our aim is to provide policy makers with expertise and ideas that put the public interest first. Our Digital Rights, Surveillance, and Democracy program explores how the use of digital technologies by intelligence, law enforcement and defence agencies impacts fundamental rights and foundational pillars of liberal democracies. The team conducts comparative research on regulatory frameworks, governance policies and oversight institutions across Europe. They also design and administrate practitioner workshops with members of European intelligence oversight bodies to generate recommendations to better rein in disproportionate government access to personal data. Those recommendations will be published and used to advise lawmakers and other stakeholders on necessary reforms of national security and intelligence legislation. The team also runs a pan-European blog on intelligence, technology, and democracy, which features think pieces and invites different perspectives on curated discussion panels on selected themes.
