Student assistant (40 hours per month)

Your responsibility

As part of the MOFANE-2 project, we will investigate, in collaboration with the Thünen-Institute of Climate-Smart Agriculture, the effects of organic fertilizers on gaseous nitrogen losses (NO, N₂O, N₂) as well as nitrate leaching in arable soils. Your responsibilities within the project will include:

+ Assisting laboratory incubation experiments to measure greenhouse gas emissions (40%)
+ Assisting with field sampling (20%)
+ Assisting in plant-based laboratory experiments (40%)

Your profile

Mandatory Criteria (Must-Have)
+ Experience conducting laboratory incubations or plant-based experiments
+ Experience in field sampling or handling environmental samples
+ Good written and spoken English skills (English-speaking work environment in the project)
+ Initial practical laboratory experience (through studies, internships, or student positions)

Desirable Criteria (Nice-to-Have)
+ Basic knowledge in soil science, plant nutrition, agricultural climate protection, or environmental chemistry
+ Initial experience in measuring greenhouse gases or soil biogeochemical processes
+ Basic skills in data analysis and scientific documentation (Excel, R, or Python)
+ Basic understanding of scientific working methods, ideally in agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, or related disciplines
+ Careful, structured, and reliable working style in conducting experimental work
+ Willingness to assist with field sampling and experimental laboratory tasks
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
