Research Assistant
part-time employment may be possible
Your responsibility
Are you interested in chemistry or materials science? Are you looking for a project combining instrument development, automation in Python, and computational modelling? Then apply to join our team and help us investigate the electrical properties of materials! To ensure equal opportunities for women and men, we particularly encourage applications from women with the relevant qualifications.
You will join ConCat Lab, a junior research group focused on the development of methods for measuring and calculation of electrical properties of materials under working conditions. The project focuses on combining our previous computational and experimental work in this area.
Your tasks will include:
- applying density functional theory to calculate phonons and model conductivity of materials
- leading the development and validation of a new device for measuring electrical conductivity
- investigating semiconducting materials, including oxides and ceramics, under working conditions
- perform catalytic measurements and characterise materials using a range of techniques
- analyse your results using microkinetic approaches
There is an opportunity to pursue a Ph.D.
Your profile
- A successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science
- Experience with Density Functional Theory calculations
- Experience with practical work in a research lab
- Demonstrable experience with Python
- Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills
- Ability to work independently desirable
- Previous experience in catalysis desirable
