Positionen und Stipendien an der FSGS ab 2026
Tasks
The Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School of Literary Studies (FSGS) accepts
dissertations of outstanding theoretical and conceptual quality that examine
literature within a cultural-historical, transregional, transtemporal and/or
intermedial framework.
For 2026, the Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School of Literary Studies (FSGS) offers
the following positions and grants:
- up to 10 PhD positions at the FSGS for the duration of 3 to 4 years for candidates
with/without external funding.
Up to 5 outstanding applicants without external funding will receive a nine-
month scholarship of EUR 1103 starting in June 2026 and take part in a series
of workshops to secure external funding.
Accepted applicants who cannot be offered a scholarship will be supported by
the management in obtaining scholarships or other external funding and can
participate in selected events of the workshop series and complete digital
modules. - 2 DAAD grants for international students of German literature and culture for
the duration of 3 to 4 years (subject to the availability of funds) - 3 Fellowships at the FSGS for students of literature from the Global South for
the duration of 3 months (subject to the availability of funds) - 1-2 CSC-Felliowships as part of the FUB-CSC program for graduate students in
humanities with a focus on German Studies from the People’s Republic of China
Please note that the FSGS is a structured doctoral program that can only be studied
full-time. We strongly recommend that you obtain external funding for your doctoral
studies and advise against self-financing through non-academic part-time
employment. If you have sources of funding other than the usual institutional funding
(scholarships or research assistant positions) and are not interested in obtaining
external funding, please indicate this in the application process.
