About us

The Chair of Sustainable Transport Systems and Data Science focuses on questions around sustainable mobility in urban and rural areas. To this end, it combines data-based modeling with participatory formats. In particular, we are developing open-source software for agent-based simulation of mobility decisions in synthetic populations with a longer-term time horizon.

Your responsibility

  • Collaboration in various research projects in the field of modeling longer-term mobility decisions and their impacts on ecologic, economic, and social sustainability indicators
  • Assisting the department in research as well as teaching.
  • Development and extension of agent-based mobility models.
  • Collaboration on the preparation and implementation of model supported participatory formats such as Decision Theatres.
  • Collaboration with national and international partners.

Your profile

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in transport science.
  • Work experience in software development, preferably skills in the programming language Julia.
  • Good skills in usage of data analysis software, e.g. Python.
  • The ability to teach in German and/or in English is required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills.
  • Experience with using versioning and shared programming infrastructures, e.g. Git/GitHub advantageous
  • Experience with Linux (terminal), ideally in a high performance computing context advantageous
  • Experience with larger programming projects advantageous
  • Interest in science communication for various audiences advantageous
  • Interest in sustainability topics advantageous
