Student Assistant in Applied Machine Learning

Tasks

  • Testing new foundation model architectures for weather and climate applications
  • Analysis and preprocessing of climate- and weather data modalities, such as time series, image data, texts- and numeric data, especially remote sensing or radar data
  • Orchestration and documentation of Deep Learning experiments
  • Processing and visualization of large amounts of data
  • Review of relevant literature and data
  • Testing software and frameworks

Requirements

  • Study of mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering or similar with good to very good grades
  • Strong programming skills in Python with knowledge of frameworks such as NumPy, Pytorch, Pandas etc.
  • Experience and confidence in using Linux (Ubuntu) via terminal
  • Advanced knowledge in Machine Learning
  • Motivated in writing clean and tidy code (implementation, testing, documentation, versioning with git)
  • Affinity for technologies
  • Curiosity about a deeper understanding of Deep Learning architectures
  • Interest in the intersection of AI and climate science
