Student Assistant in Applied Machine Learning
Tasks
- Testing new foundation model architectures for weather and climate applications
- Analysis and preprocessing of climate- and weather data modalities, such as time series, image data, texts- and numeric data, especially remote sensing or radar data
- Orchestration and documentation of Deep Learning experiments
- Processing and visualization of large amounts of data
- Review of relevant literature and data
- Testing software and frameworks
Requirements
- Study of mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering or similar with good to very good grades
- Strong programming skills in Python with knowledge of frameworks such as NumPy, Pytorch, Pandas etc.
- Experience and confidence in using Linux (Ubuntu) via terminal
- Advanced knowledge in Machine Learning
- Motivated in writing clean and tidy code (implementation, testing, documentation, versioning with git)
- Affinity for technologies
- Curiosity about a deeper understanding of Deep Learning architectures
- Interest in the intersection of AI and climate science
