Technische Universität Berlin, Faculty II - Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institute of Chemistry, in cooperation with Freie Universität Berlin invites applications for a position of a
University Professor - salary grade W3
for the field of "Green Chemistry".
Tasks
The holder of the position should represent the subjects of Green Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry in teaching and be involved in teaching courses in the bachelor/ master programmes "Chemistry", "Chemical Engineering" and "Food Chemistry". The courses will be taught in German and English. The tasks also include the supervision of students in the preparation of final theses.
The research should be in a current area of molecular inorganic chemistry, preferably in the field of catalysis based on organometallic or coordination compounds, with a special focus on the principles of green chemistry, including the development of sustainable, resource- and energy-saving chemical processes.
The work should be integrated into the Berlin-based collaborative projects and thus enabling a broad collaborative capability.
Further responsibilities include leading and managing the department and its staff; supporting the advancement of junior scholars, women, and diversity; knowledge and technology transfer; initiatives to promote internationalization; gender and diversity competence and sustainability-oriented action as well as committee and commission work.
Requirements
The recruitment requirements according to § 100 BerlHG must be fulfilled. These include, in particular, a university degree in chemistry or related subject, special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, additional scientific achievements, which are usually demonstrated by a positively evaluated junior professorship, habilitation or equivalent achievements, as well as pedagogical aptitude, which is documented by a teaching portfolio (for more information on the teaching portfolio, see the website of the Technical University of Berlin: https://www.tu.berlin/go209650/
Suitable candidates should have a proven track record of independent, internationally visible scientific work in an experimental area of Green Chemistry to represent this subject in research and teaching. Competence in synthesis strategies of inorganic molecules and their application in sustainable processes, e.g. in catalysis or energy conversion or storage, is a key qualification. The willingness and ability to conduct interdisciplinary research, e.g. between theory and experiment, as well as for technology transfer activities is required. A research focus on purely process-oriented technical chemistry/chemical engineering is not desirable. Groundbreaking research results in the field of synthesis and structural characterisation of inorganic molecules and their use in sustainable chemical processes must be demonstrated by relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals. High research activity must be substantiated by successful grant proposals within the last 5 years. The professorship is expected to actively contribute to the further development of the integrated research area Berlin. Relevant teaching experience and experience in supervising final and doctoral theses are expected. Experience in academic self-administration and in leading large research groups is also desirable.
