The Institute for Education at Faculty I (Humanities and Educational Sciences) at Technische Universität Berlin invites applications for a

University Professorship – pay scale W2

for the field of “Pedagogical Psychology”.

Tasks

Research in Pedagogical Psychology, taking into account the following areas:

  • Theoretical perspectives on learning and teaching under the conditions of heterogeneity and social inequalities
  • Empirical analysis of teaching and learning processes, taking into account current challenges and concepts (such as e.g. the Covid-19 pandemic, parental work, multi-professional teams or further development of teacher training)
  • Methods of quantitative educational research

Teaching - Nine teaching hours in the educational sciences’ modules in bachelor's and master's teacher education programs for teaching at vocational schools, integrated secondary schools and academic high schools, participation in qualification measures, e.g. in the training of mentors as part of the practical semester and entry-level career support provided by Berlin schools, participation in further training and lateral entry masters for teachers; teaching quantitative methods in the BA degree programme "Culture and Technology (core subject: educational science)" and in the Master's degree programme "Educational Science - Consulting and Organizational Development".

Further responsibilities include leading and managing the professorship and its staff; supporting the advancement of junior scholars, women, and diversity; knowledge transfer; initiatives to promote internationalization; gender and diversity competence and sustainability-oriented action; as well as committee work.

Requirements

Candidates must fulfill the hiring requirements pursuant to Section 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG). These include a university degree psychology or educational science; an aptitude for scientific work (generally demonstrated by the quality of the applicant’s doctorate); additional academic achievements (generally demonstrated by a positively evaluated junior professorship, “Habilitation,” or equivalent achievements); as well as an aptitude for teaching (demonstrated in a teaching portfolio). Prerequisites are a relevant doctorate and proven academic contributions to the three subject areas mentioned. It is also assumed that the future post holder is involved in academic self-administration and already has relevant experience in this area.

Desirable requirements:
Innovative ideas for shaping the academic chair within the Institute of Education and the School of Education (SETUB) with a focus on heterogeneity and social educational inequality are desired. Experience in the management of research groups and in the acquisition of third-party funded projects, in particular DFG, be of advantage. Practical school experience is an advantage.
