Student assistant (40 hours per month)

Tasks

Support in the DFG-funded Special Priority Program SPP 2353: “DIRC - Designing complex behaviour novel pathways for assisting design based on dynamics-informed machine learning in structural mechanics”:

  • Support with the implementation of Python helper routines for PyReCo python library (40%)
  • Creative support for representing research results: scientific plots, schematics, vector graphics, videos (30%)
  • Support with the documentation of data structures, Python code and AI training runs (20%)
  • Support with structuring of projects using GitLab (10%)

Requirements

Must:

  • Proven very good programming skills in OOP, Python as well as profound knowledge of the libraries NumPy, Pandas, Jupyter-Notebook, Matplotlib*
  • Experience in data processing (eg. Pandas dataframes, Numpy Arrays) and visualisation*
  • Experience with LateX, Tikz and InkScape
  • Very good written and spoken English skills
    * Proof of expertise through a public GitHub repository, shared Jupyter notebooks or other relevant code samples or references

Can:

  • Basic knowledge of networks and handling sequential data
  • Experience in working with Git
  • Experience in test-driven development, e.g. with the unit testing framework unittest
