Sacred Byte is a managed security services provider specializing in secure IT for companies that handle sensitive data—from infrastructure to compliance-ready cybersecurity. Our mission is to make enterprise-level protection affordable for small and mid-sized organisations by combining open-source solutions with smart administration.
You’ll join the small team servicing our newest client while sharpening your security skills on internal R&D sprints.
Werkstudent*in IT Operations & Cybersecurity Support (m/f/d)
5-8 h/week • Remote-first (Berlin occasional on-site) • Start: June 2025
Tasks
Keep daily ops smooth — and level-up our security posture.
What you’ll do:
- Provision & maintain users, groups and licences in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
- Onboard laptops (Windows/macOS) into MDM; arrange occasional hand-overs in the Berlin office.
- Triage first-line tickets (password resets, access issues) and escalate complex cases.
- Run weekly maintenance: check patch status, backup logs, security-centre alerts.
- Document fixes & run-books so the next person (maybe you, maybe future-you) can repeat them fast.
Stretch projects (≈ 20 % time):
- Research current CVEs affecting SaaS stacks and brief the team,
- Script a “one-click hardening” setup for new laptops,
- Help draft our incident-response playbook or ISO 27001 checklist.
Requirements
Enrolled in CS, IT-security or similar or proven strong technical skills (at least 2 semesters left).
Basic admin skills in Windows or macOS and a scripting language (PowerShell, Bash or Python).
Solid English; German nice-to-have.
Curiosity, reliability, and the guts to say “I don’t know yet, but I’ll find out.”
Happy to help people achieve their goals by empowering their IT.
What we offer
€16-19 per hour on a Werkstudent contract, reimbursed training hours, and equipment.
Flexible scheduling around lectures; increased hours possible in semester breaks.
Mentoring from senior cloud & security engineers; roadmap to a junior full-time role.
Remote culture with quarterly team days in Berlin and client site visits when hardware touches are needed.
